



SCHENECTADY, N.Y., January 7, 2006 - Springfield College senior All-American Dan Moran (Wilbraham, Mass.) won the 1,000 free (10:02.57) and 200 butterfly (1:59.13) events as the Pride defeated host Union College, 142-100, in a tri-meet at Union's Alumni Gymnasium Pool on Saturday afternoon. SC also downed Hartwick College on Saturday by a 126-117 margin.
Senior All-American Mike Shaw (Westfield, Mass.) took first in both the one- and three-meter dives with point totals of 264.80 and 292.85, respectively. Sophomore All-American Roy Burch (Warwick, Bermuda) won the 50 free, in a time of 21.83, and the 100 free, in a time of 48.49.
The Pride's 400 freestyle relay squad consisting of sophomore Chris LeCompte (Londonderry, N.H.), freshman Will Banulski (Bristol, Conn.), freshman Tony Bruno (Southbury, Conn.) and Roy Burch took first with a 3:18.13 time.
On the women's side, senior All-American Sarah Strout (Boothbay, Maine) paced SC with a winning 1,000 free time of 10:52.37 as the Pride defeated Union, 145-97, and Hartwick, 180-63. Strout also finished second in the 500 free with a time of 5:25.16.
Senior tri-captain Emily Phillips (North Windham, Conn.) took first in both the 100 and 200 free events, with times of 54.90 and 2:00.34, respectively. Other winners for SC included freshman Kristen Schadow (Ballston Spa, N.Y.), in the 200 individual medley (2:17.25), sophomore Emily Sheahan (Erin, N.Y.), in the 500 freestyle (5:21.06), and freshman Erin White (Glastonbury, Conn.), who took first in the one-meter dive with a 213.10 point total.
The SC women will next host Smith College on Wednesday afternoon, January 11, in a 3:30 p.m. dual-meet, as the Pride men and women will then travel to New York University for a meet on Saturday afternoon, January 14, in a 1:00 p.m. start.
