Men's Tennis Trio Earns NEWMAC All-Conference Honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 1, 2002 -Springfield College sophomores
Yuta Yoshi, Brad Boisvert and
Chris Sweeney have been named to 2002 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference Team in men's tennis.
Yoshi, a native of
Yokosuka, Japan, was voted as the top No. 2 singles player in the NEWMAC. Yoshi finished with a 5-1 mark in conference play this spring. He also played No. 1 singles with senior
Jason Loeb.
Boisvert, who hails from
Ponaganset, R.I., and
Sweeney,, who is from
Wakefield, Mass., earn all-conference accolades in No. 3 doubles. The duo dominated NEWMAC competition this season, winning four of five doubles conference matches they played. In singles play, Sweeney played at No. 4 while Boisvert competed at No. 5.
Under first-year head coach
Michael Myer, a 1990 graduate of Springfield College and a former all-conference selection in men's tennis, the Pride placed third at the 2002 NEWMAC Championship. During the regular season, SC rallied from a 1-3 start to finish 7-7 overall.

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his third year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
