Favorite part of living in this area:
My favorite thing about the city of Springfield is that it is a diverse population of people and families working toward the same goal: the overall betterment of their families and community. I consider it an honor as a resident to be able to assist in the continued development and prosperity of the city of Springfield.

What I love about Springfield College:
What I love most about the campus and the education offered at Springfield College is hands-down the College’s “culture.” In my own words I often times describe to families my impressions of how the humanics philosophy has laid the foundation for the culture that exists here. Service, self-care, and education are all inspired by the daily interactions here at Springfield College.

Favorite quote:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – This quote was used by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural speech.

Something you might not know about me:
Some surprising things about me are that I am the oldest member of the undergraduate admissions staff, and I have five children. I also graduated from the weekend program offered at Springfield College at the ripe age of thirty-one!

Favorite college memory:
My favorite college memories are in the many experiences I had in the clubs and organizations that I joined. I made lasting friendships with many students that I wouldn’t have met otherwise.

Advice for high school seniors:
Visit the colleges and universities that you are interested in. I think that it is difficult to know what you are looking for in a school without actually visiting the campus. Also, talk to current students when you visit and find out what they like about the school. If you know any alumni from the schools that you are interested in, talk to them and ask them about their experiences.

Favorite vacation spot:
I love New England! There are so many beautiful places to go for just the day or for a week. No matter where you are in New England, the ocean or the mountains are within a short drive.

Favorite college memory:
It is impossible to pick a favorite but one that sticks out is being on Abbey Green as a senior during New Student Orientation. Those of you who know what I’m talking about will understand; those of you who don’t, I hope you will after attending NSO.

What I love about Springfield College:
To begin with, everything. I love the energy that surrounds this campus. When you first arrive, you might not be able to place your finger on what it is but you know something makes this place special; it is the people here and the history of this institution that gives it that energy and special feeling.

Favorite Quote:
“Life moves by pretty fast, and if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” - Ferris Bueller

Advice for college-bound students:
At any school, go into your first year with an open mind, try to experience everything that interests you, and get involved as much as you can on campus.

Favorite college memory:
When asked this question – my response is always “I don’t have just one.” It’s not an easy-out type of response; I honestly can’t choose just one. Being actively involved on campus as an undergrad provided me with several memories I cherish. From participating in athletics, to creating a leadership retreat from the ground up and experiencing an alternative spring break that ultimately changed my first career path, my experiences in and out of the classroom shaped who I am today. In addition to the activities, the friendships I am made here at Springfield are beyond words. The memories, laughs, and tears we have shared together make us all friends for life. No matter how much time passes between get-togethers, it always feels like we’ve picked up right where we left off. I would not be who I am today without them, and without Springfield College!

What I love about Springfield College:
I love that Springfield College is big enough to allow you to be your own person, but small enough for you to make a name for yourself. The campus as a whole is so active and involved; it pushes you to be a better person with an emphasis on personal growth in all three aspects of life. I also love the sense of community and the genuine interest in you as a person. The faculty, staff, and student body are all leaders in their respective areas and care about one another.

Favorite Quote:
"Everybody can be great because anybody can serve" - Martin Luther King Jr.

Favorite Book:
Too many to choose just one! Top three are:
"Mudbound" by Hillary Johnson
"A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey
"The Things They Carried" by Tim O’Brien
I love to read and I’m always looking for suggestions!
