HOUSTON TEXANS' CASSERLY TELLS SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE GRADS 'IF YOU HAVE A WORK ETHIC, YOU'RE SPECIAL' At undergraduate ceremonies at Springfield College's 119th commencement May 15, Charles J. Casserly, senior vice president of the Houston Texans, told graduates, "The world is full of people with talent but without a work ethic. Our pro bowl teams are filled with people with a work ethic and some talent. If you have that ability to work hard, you're something special. If you don't have it, you'd better get it." Read more.
MASSACHUSETTS SENATOR BRIAN LEES TELLS SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE GRADUATES 'GREATNESS ONLY COMES WITH EXHAUSTION' At graduate student ceremonies at Springfield College's 119th commencement May 14, Massachusetts Senate Minority Leader Brian P. Lees said, "Do not let your failures define you. Do not let them deter you. Accept them, learn from them what you can, and redouble your efforts for eventual success." Read more.
PRES. FLYNN ELECTED TO NCAA D-III PRESIDENTS COUNCIL Springfield College President Richard B. Flynn has been elected to the Division III Presidents Council of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Flynn was elected to a full four-year term in a vote by chief executive officers of the 421 Division III institutions. Read more.
NATIONAL BEST INITIATIVE TEAM UP TO EDUCATE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT WORKERS The Springfield College School of Human Services (SHS), based in Springfield, Mass., and the National Training Institute for Community Youth Work in Washington, D.C., have announced a new collaboration to provide advanced training for persons in the field of youth development.
