PLAY IT SMART PROGRAM OF NATIONAL FOOTBALL FOUNDATION WINS MULTI MILLION DOLLAR GRANT FROM U.S. D.O.E., NFF CENTER AT SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE PLAYS KEY ROLE The U. S. Department of Education recently announced a multi million-dollar, five-year grant to the Play It Smart program, which is credited with dramatically increasing high school football players' graduation rates and college enrollment. A program of the National Football Foundation, Play It Smart was conceptualized by the NFF Center for Youth Development Through Sport at Springfield College (NFF Center), which also trains the program's leaders. 'U.S. NEWS' RANKS SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE IN NEW 2005 'AMERICA'S BEST COLLEGES' ISSUE Springfield College is ranked in the top tier in its category in the 2005 edition of "America's Best Colleges" from "U.S. News & World Report," which will be on newsstands Monday, Aug. 23. Read more.
SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE STUDENT NAMED MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. SCHOLAR Stacey Jackson, a social work student at Springfield College, has been named a Martin Luther King Jr. Scholar by the U.S. Department of Education. The scholarship is part of a program for outstanding undergraduate and graduate students whose academic achievement and community service honor the legacy of the renowned civil rights leader's contributions to public service and humanity. She will serve as an intern under U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige. Read more.
